Administrators will try to secure a fresh start for Sympatex

Membrane technology developer Sympatex has gone into administration. A court in Munich appointed Axel Bierbach of law firm Müller-Heydenreich Bierbach & Kollegen as administrator for the business at a hearing on January 26.

Economic pressures forced Sympatex to apply for the help of the courts on January 22. During the administration process, all of the company’s activities will continue and all 70 members of staff will continue to be paid, at least until the end of March.

Chief executive, Kim Scholze, who took over from Dr Rüdiger Fox in the role in September, said going into administration would give the company an opportunity to restructure.

Mr Bierbach said he would make every effort to make sure that customer orders continue to be processed and ongoing projects proceed as scheduled. He said he would investigate all options to find “a viable future” for the company.

He added that his aim was to give Sympatex a fresh start, “without the burdens of the past”.
