Recruitment drive for Better Cotton in the US
Cotton sustainability initiative Better Cotton has invited more cotton farmers in the US to enrol for its programme. Farmers have until May 15 to sign up to the Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) for the 2026-2027 cotton season.
It said its standard is built on environmental and social principles, including farm and labour management, soil health, water management and crop protection.
“Working with BCI increases market entry opportunities with exposure to a global network of over 300 retailers and brands who source BCI cotton,” the organisation said.
Practices that BCI encourages are already in place on many farms, it pointed out, and are producing benefits including cost savings and “farm resilience”, while also contributing to positive environmental impacts.
