Belgian textile research and design centre Centexbel hosted an event at the end of March to examine trends in textiles for apparel, including standards, sustainability and circular innovation.

Speakers included in-house experts Birgit Stubbe, Sander De Vrieze, Edwin Maes and Jolien De Lepeleire, who spoke, respectively, about eco-design, innovations in apparel over the past year, updates on legislation and new standards from Oeko-Tex.

External speakers included Emmanuel Liebart, sales and innovation manager at Liebaert Textiles, who explained the Flanders-based company’s move in the last ten years from fabrics for fashion and lingerie into the activewear market.
