Textile and clothing firms are part of Winter Olympics 2030 project
Textile and apparel start-up platform Techtera is part of an initiative for companies to prepare sustainable solutions for the 2030 Winter Olympics. Th games will take place in the French Alps, where Techtera is based.
Techtera has contributed textile and apparel ideas to a document called ‘Laboratory of Innovations and Solutions for Major International Sporting Events – 2030’. The document was unveiled at an international event called Mountain Planet, which took place in Grenoble in late April.
This document highlights 370 solutions, including in materials and textiles. The ideas come from 280 local companies, of which more than 40 are involved in textiles.
In comments it has made so far, Techtera said its aim was to contribute to the success of the Olympics in sporting, financial, environmental and social terms. It added that this initiative was also part of a long-term strategy to support the textile industry in the region until 2030 and beyond, making the Winter Olympics “a true catalyst for transformation and influence”.
Textile and apparel companies involved include outdoor brand Picture Organic Clothing, fabric developer Weturn, which specialises in using recycled natural fibres, and clothing brand Noliju.
