Outdoor brand Patagonia has said its Cool Sun range of tops has “cracked the code” on sun protection that will not wash out. 

Made from its proprietary Capilene recycled polyester fabric, the Cool Sun range has an ultraviolet protection factor (UPF) of 40-plus “knitted in”. 

Patagonia has explained that the fabric’s construction is enough to block, scatter or reflect 97.5% of ultraviolet rays that the wearer is exposed to. It pointed out that this means the sun protection functionality will not wash out. 

In addition, it said the garments’ waffled construction raises the material off the skin and, therefore, enhances wicking. The brand has said the Cool Sun technical T-shirt is its fastest wicking garment of this kind.
