Red Dot recognition for Royal Robbins
Outdoor brand Royal Robbins has been named among the winners in the 2026 Red Dot Award design competition.
It won the prize for its Expedition III shirt, which uses fabric that combines the company’s proprietary mosquito protection technology with 40+ sun protection.
Royal Robbins has explained that, unlike traditional bug-repellent apparel that relies on chemical treatments, its mosquito protection technology uses an engineered, tight weave fabric to create “a robust barrier against mosquitoes”.
The fabric is crafted from 100% recycled ripstop polyester, with moisture-wicking, quick-drying, wrinkle- and stain-resistant functionality too.
Brand president, Erik Burbank, said: “Seeing this innovation recognised by Red Dot is a meaningful milestone for the brand and for the small but mighty team behind it.”
