The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) has estimated cotton planting covering 9.85 million acres across the country’s cotton belt by the end of June. 

This represents an increase of 6% compared last year’s eventual total. 

It said sowing was almost complete by June 30. 

USDA is expecting production of 13.3 million bales for the 2026-2027 season.
