Footwear still top for adidas, but apparel brings H1 growth

Sports group adidas has posted first-half revenues of €13.3 billion, growth of 10% year on year.

Footwear was the group’s biggest category, with sales over the six-month period of €7.2 billion. This figure represents a slight drop, 0.6%, compared to the first half of last year.

Apparel sales exceeded €5.1 billion and increased by 29% year on year. Adidas was also pleased with the growth of its revenues from accessories, which reached €980 million, up by 12.4%.

Its sales revenues in Europe reached €4.2 billion, up by 5%, while its performance in North America reached €2.7 billion, growth of 8%. In both of these major markets, adidas said its revenues from footwear and apparel for football and running had delivered double-digit growth.

In China, sales reached €2.1 billion, an increase of 14%. The figures for Latin America were revenues of €1.7 billion and growth of 27%.
