A first signature shoe for Tyrese Maxey
Athletic footwear and apparel group New Balance has released a first signature shoe with basketball star Tyrese Maxey.
A point guard for the Philadelphia 76ers, Tyrese Maxey became a New Balance athlete in 2023. At the start of this year, the company announced that a first signature shoe was in development. It has now unveiled the Maxey v1, which will go on sale in October.
New Balance has described the shoe as being designed for speed, agility and confidence on the basketball court. It features what the company calls “a dual-rail plate system”, which it claims will help propel athletes forward while supporting quick lateral movement.
Another feature is proprietary FuelCell cushioning, a sculpted heel profile and added midfoot and arch volume to create “a locked-in fit feeling”.
Tyrese Maxey said he had worked closely with the New Balance product team “to make sure the shoe looks good and feels good, on and off the court”.
He explained that the brand’s 9060 shoe had been an inspiration for this project, saying the shoe, first launched in 2022 was now “a classic NB silhouette”.
Senior product manager, Kevin Trotman, said the Maxey v1 was an exciting addition to our basketball line-up. “The shoe delivers high-level traction and performance while pairing it with a caged upper-design language that feels current, yet avant-garde.”
