Magnetic zip goes global
Zip technology developer YKK has made the number-three size of its QuickFree click-TRAK magnetic zipper available globally. The product was previously available only in the Chinese market.
There is an earlier version of the magnetic zip, number-five size. The new version is 60% of the size, YKK said.
It said the smaller version has the same functionality and ease-of-operation and that its size will make it especially suitable for use in lightweight garments, sportswear, hooded apparel and similar products.
The product features magnets embedded in the left and right open parts. These automatically attract each other and the zip stays closed.
However, the slider disengages when a certain amount of force is applied to either side, automatically opening the zipper.
