Midsoles development to go on show at BASF’s Simac stand
Chemicals group BASF has said it will present polyurethane and thermoplastic polyurethane solutions for “the entire footwear lifecycle” at the 2026 Simac Tanning Tech exhibition, which takes place in Milan from September 15 to 17.
The company will use ‘Make the Move’ as the theme for its participation at the event. It explained that this stands for “moving footwear forward”.
It said this would encompass established manufacturing methods and new processing technologies, linear products and circular concepts, “shaping the future of footwear”.
Products on display will include Elastopan SpringPURe thermoformed midsoles. BASF explained that it had worked closely with Vigevano-based footwear machinery manufacturer Gusbi to develop this idea.
BASF said the two partners had moved the classical heat press forward to create an automated process for high-quality, lightweight midsoles.
