Resale is “the future of outdoor gear”, growing Geartrade claims
Online resale platform for outdoor gear and apparel Geartrade has relocated its operational headquarters and warehouse in Salt Lake City.
It said the move would add 550 square-metres of inventory capacity and allow the company to improve the quality and efficiency of its growing operation. It explained that its sales are up by 47% this year so far.
Geartrade said it had a year-round selection of outdoor gear and apparel, but that its ski and snowboard category is the primary factor in its overall growth.
“We are on track for another big year,” said Geartrade president, Aaron Provine. “To support our steadily rising number of active sellers catering to a community of nearly 200,000 outdoor shoppers, we simply needed more warehouse room to support our rising inventory levels.”
In addition to incoming product from individual sellers, Geartrade inventory is growing through a variety of resale partnerships with outdoor brands. These include Jones Snowboards, DPS skis, Flylow, Stio and Town Hall Outdoor Company.
It said its platform makes it easy to buy and sell used gear, extending the lifecycle of outdoor products and lowering their environmental impact. Consignment services that include free boxes, free shipping and “hassle-free posting”of all items.
