Producer and processor of multi-filament polyester and nylon textured yarns, Unifi, Inc. is to close its central distribution centre in Mayodan, North Carolina, USA and move its operations to its warehouse and logistics facilities in Yadkinville, North Carolina.

This move, which is expected to be completed by December 2005, will lead to 19 job losses and the relocation of another 60 employees.

"Our recent success in reducing inventories allows us to centralise and maximise the overall efficiency of our warehousing and logistics operations, which will be accomplished with little cost to the organisation," said Bill Lowe, chief officer and CFO for Unifi.
