Vietnam’s footwear exports rise 20%

17/08/2005

Despite the fact that Vietnamese footwear manufacturers are currently being investigated by the EU regarding anti-dumping charges, it seems that the industry is continuing to grow. According to the Ministry of Trade, footwear exports rose 20% in July to reach revenues of $300 million which now puts the country on target to reach exports of $3.4 billion for 2005.

The marked increase was attributed to continued growth in established markets and a sharp increase in new export markets such as South Africa, Taiwan, Japan, and the Netherlands.
