Scottish soccer team fights counterfeit goods

Scottish soccer team Glasgow Rangers estimates that it could be losing up to £5-£6 million a year to imitation team products and has employed several different security measures to try to combat the problem, the latest of which is a collaboration with design concept, brand trimmings and logistics company Nilorn Calmon UK.

Rangers has adopted the Nilorn Secure product in its merchandise - a covert detection mark that can be applied invisibly to labels.  Detection is done either by visual reading or by an acoustic detection device.  Nilorn Secure may be used alone or as part of a layered” approach, combining overt and covert security strategies.

Nilorn offers labels, tickets and packaging that can incorporate special anti-counterfeiting measures, both obvious and concealed. Other ways of invisible identification can be in the form of sequential numbering, UV inks, holographic labels, watermarks or security inks that make it possible to spot a counterfeit.
