Dow Fiber Solutions has launched a new elastic fibre to the swimwear market, Dow XLA CP, said to be the first-ever inherently chlorine-proof stretch fibre, is an olefin-based stretch fibre that is able to resist harsh chemicals, high heat and UV light for more than 1,000 hours. It also offers shape retention for the same period of time which is an important factor considering that nearly 70 per cent of women rank fit” as the most important attribute when choosing a bathing suit, according to Brad Miller, Dow Fiber Solution’s commercial director. 

Competitive swimmers often have to replace their swim suits every six to 10 competitions, and with the large and expanding number of recreational and competitive swimmers in the United States and Europe, there is growing demand for superior performance in a swimwear fibre,” added Mr. Miller.
