Former owner of sportswear brand adidas, Bernard Tapie, has been awarded €135 million compensation by a French appeal court as a result of irregularities in the sale of the company to Robert-Louis Dreyfus in 1994.

Mr Tapie sued Credit Lyonnais bank and the French government for €990 million claiming that he had been cheated when Credit Lyonnais sold the company for only about €709 million.
