Brazil considers limits on Chinese goods

Following his recent visit to China, Brazil’s Minister of Trade, Luiz Furlan has said that Brazil is considering imposing limits on Chinese imports into the country.

Brazilian officials held discussions with their counterparts in Beijing last week in an attempt to agree limits on textile imports, however, negotiations ended in a deadlock.

The footwear and textiles industries are seen as those worst affected by the influx of Chinese goods into Brazil and Foreign Trade Council has asked President Lula da Silva to introduce WTO laws that would allow limits to be imposed.
