Rohm and Haas reports 8% increase on Q3 sales
Rohm and Haas Company has reported third quarter 2005 sales of $1,953 million, an 8% increase over the same period in 2004, driven by increased selling prices necessary to recover higher raw material and energy-related costs.
According to the company, demand in the quarter was down slightly with a modestly favourable impact of currency on the revenue line. Earnings from continuing operations for the quarter were $169 million, up 23% compared with the $137 million reported in the same period last year. The quarter’s results include approximately $7 million, after-tax, in costs associated with the shutdowns caused by hurricanes in the Sales for the nine months ending September 30, 2005 were $5,982 million, representing a 10% increase over the comparable period in 2004.
