Students win fashion trip with high street clothing guru

Five De Montfort University (DMU) fashion buying students have won a prestigious trip to Turkey with George Davies - the visionary behind high street clothing brands Next, George at ASDA, and Per Una at Marks and Spencer.

The students all entered the fashion design category and got called to the final at this year's annual Society of Dyers and Colourists conference alongside three other international students. They had to produce a complete Per Una outfit for the 2005 autumn season.

Mr Davies judged the designs on both quality of design and colour prediction, and arranged a catwalk show to demonstrate the finalists' designs. It was decided in the end that all eight students will make the three-day trip (4-6 December) to Turkey to meet Per Una designers and suppliers.

The five students studying the new BA (Hons) Fashion Retail Buying degree at DMU were Alice Overend, 21; Jenna McGaulley, 20; Hayley Willis, 21; Claire Moore, 24; Christine Thomas, 20.
