03/02/2006

Rohm and Haas Company has reported sales of $2,012 million for the fourth quarter 2005, an 8% increase over the same period in 2004. Higher selling prices accounted for 7%.

Sales in the Coatings business of $587 million represented a 5% increase over a strong fourth quarter 2004. Performance Chemicals recorded sales of $438 million, up 7% over the comparable period in 2004. Sales in plastics additives were up 11% as a result of higher pricing in North America, Europe and Asia, and higher overall demand. Sales for Process Chemicals rose 5% from the comparable period a year ago. Packaging and Finishing Technologies sales increased 30% with growth across all regions. For Adhesives and Sealants sales were down 1% at $173 million, as higher pricing to recover higher raw material and energy costs was more than offset by lower demand and the unfavourable impact of currencies.

Full-year 2005 sales of $7,994 million increased approximately 10% over 2004, with higher selling prices representing approximately 9%.
