BASF recognised for sustainability

06/02/2006

BASF has been included in the Global 100 list compiled by the New York research house Innovest for the first time. The list consists of the world’s most successful companies in the areas of environmental protection, and social and corporate governance issues.

Innovest compiled its ranking together with the Canadian publication Corporate Knights, choosing the Global 100 companies from more than 1,800 global corporations. In selecting BASF, Innovest paid tribute to the company’s environmentally responsible activities, its development of sustainable products, and its eco-efficiency analysis – a tool that BASF uses on behalf of its customers to compare the environmental and cost performance of different products. Innovest also highlighted BASF’s achievements in the fields of innovation, product stewardship and sustainability management.

We are pleased to be recognised in this way for our environmental and social performance. Sustainable development is strategically important for BASF and is playing an increasingly important role in the investment decisions of our investors,” said Magdalena Moll, head of Investor Relations.

The Innovest ranking was first published in 2005. The Global 100 companies are chosen from all publicly traded companies in the MSCI World Index.
