Burlington and Traptek collaborate on coconut fabric

09/02/2006

Burlington WorldWide (BWW) and TrapTek, LLC have collaborated on the development of a new series of woven fabrics that offer specific comfort and performance benefits for the active wear, menswear, womenswear, military, homeland, uniform, and lifestyle markets. The new products will address comfort issues through a new Natural Technology, derived from coconuts, that provides evaporative cooling, odour resistance, and UPF protection.

The products have been developed through a collaborative effort between the companies aimed at specific desired benefits and functionalities in each marketplace. The first woven products, directed at the active wear market, provide an evaporative cooling effect by rapidly moving moisture over the active particles creating unprecedented "dry times". Burlington will also engineer products that will provide outstanding UPF properties with sheer constructions and will also be able to market the natural origins of this emerging technology.

The technology will be a platinum colour in order to promote the ability of the consumer to ‘see’ the Natural Technology.
