Eleksen, the inventor and manufacturer of ElekTex smart fabric touchpads used in interface design for consumer electronics, has launched licensable reference designs of its smart fabric keyboard for USB compatible devices. The reference design is suitable for OEMs and ODMs interested in designing or manufacturing smart fabric interfaces for the growing market of portable and mobile computing devices for consumer and industrial purposes.

The USB keyboard is a plug-and-play device, compatible with standard USB/HID profiles. The keyboard can be plugged into an ultra mobile PC or tablet PC to give the user a larger and more convenient interface for entering text on the move. It requires no batteries as it gains its power through the USB connection and weighs only 60g.

The USB keyboard is an addition to the Bluetooth keyboard which was launched at the end of 2005 and offers a range of options for designing flexible and durable interfaces for high value accessories in the growing market for smart mobile devices.
