Canadian action sport retailer West 49 Inc., has named Steven Boyack, as chief financial officer (CFO) and corporate secretary, effective March 27.

"With three acquisitions over the past nine months, the scope of our lead financial role has significantly expanded," said Sam Baio, president and CEO.

Mr Boyack is a chartered accountant with more than 17 years of accounting and finance experience, primarily in the retail and consumer goods industries. Most recently, he was vice president, controller at Winners Merchants International L.P., a division of The TJX Companies, Inc.

The company has also appointed Leslie Freeman as vice president, Web Commerce at West 49's wholly-owned subsidiary, Board Zone Inc.

In this newly created role, Ms Freeman will be responsible for the development and implementation of an e-commerce web site for the West 49 banner, leveraging the platform and infrastructure of the Board Zone web site.

Ms. Freeman is a founder of West 49 and its predecessor companies and has previously served as director of Buying and vice president, Global Sourcing.

West 49 Inc. is a multi-banner specialty retailer of apparel, footwear and accessories related to skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing.
