Polartec ‘green’ fabric programme expanded

06/04/2006
US-based performance textiles producer Malden Mills is to expand its Poleartec recycled and ‘renewable’ fabric programme.

According to the company, recycled yarn technology has advanced dramatically allowing it to develop a collection of Polartec fabrics which save precious resources, reduce emissions from manufacturing and reduce pressure on landfills by recycling industrial and consumer waste.

Two new ‘green’ garments are set to be launched on the market in autumn, Patagonia’s Capilene 4 long underwear programme and Timberland’s new Mountain Sweater, with a wider range due to be released by  September 2007.
