Q1 results for Levi Strauss

In line with company expectations, American jeans and casual wear manufacturer Levi Strauss has reported a decline in revenue but an increase in net income.

Net revenues for the first quarter, which include net sales and licensing revenues, were $960 million compared with $1,019 million for the first quarter of 2005, representing a decrease of 6% on a reported basis and 4% on a constant-currency basis.

Net income for the first quarter increased 14% to $54 million compared with net income of $47 million in the same quarter of 2005.
Gross profit decreased $43 million to $457 million compared to $500 million in the first quarter of 2005.
