Polyurethane resin demand soars

According to a new study from Cleveland-based industry research firm The Freedonia Group, Inc., polyurethane resin demand in the US is projected to rise 2.8% annually to 7.6 billion pounds in 2009.

Flexible and rigid polyurethane foams will remain dominant, together accounting for nearly two-thirds of all polyurethane demand.

Demand for flexible polyurethane foam should increase 1.9 % annually to 2.6 billion pounds in 2009 and rigid polyurethane foam demand should grow at a 3.4% annual rate to 2.4 billion pounds in 2009.
