US specialty retailer of action sports related apparel, footwear, equipment and accessories Zumiez Inc has reported positive financial results for the first quarter ended April 29.

Total net sales for the first quarter increased by 43.2% to $47.8 million from $33.4 million in the first quarter of 2005. Net income was $1.1 million compared with a net loss of $40,000 in the same period of prior year.

The company stated that its projected earnings growth rate of 30% continues to be achievable for fiscal 2006.
