Green energy possible from waste

The Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources in India has released a booklet on Green Energy from Waste” which highlights the potential for generating power from Co-generation in various core industries including the tanning industry.
 

The booklet gives details of demonstration projects installed under a project on Development of High Rate Biomethanation Processes as a means of reducing Green House Gases Emission”. As part of this project, 14 full-scale demonstration projects have been set up using  biomethanation technologies to treat waste from tanneries, slaughterhouses, pulp and paper mills, vegetable markets, and sewage works.
