The European Association for Textile Polyolefins (EATP) held its international conference in Berlin, Germany, on May 15-16, welcoming participants from 15 countries and four different continents. Presentations were made by companies from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and USA, on themes including ‘The European and world economic framework’, ‘Polyolefin feedstocks and polymers’, ‘Developments in India’, ‘Competition of polyolefin fibres with other materials’, ‘PP fibres in the USA’, ‘Carpets’, ‘Technical textile global developments’, ‘Global competition in machinery’, ‘Market growth in nonwovens’, ‘Investing in China’, ‘Innovation’, ‘Synthetic sports surfaces’ and ‘Environmental issues.’
Textile polyolefins are a major sector of the European textile industry, producing polymers, fibres, fabrics and a wide range of other products, from polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE). European output of polyolefin textiles exceeds €3 billion a year.
The next EATP executive seminar will be held in Istanbul from May 21-22, 2007.
