According to local media reports, the last remaining textile factory in Kaduna, Nigeria, United Nigeria Textiles (UNT) Plc, has cut 1,200 jobs.

A statement released by the company stated that the cuts had been necessary due to rising production costs and an unstable market—partly as a result of smuggling activities and counterfeit products.
