US designer and retailer of apparel, outerwear, footwear, and swimwear American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. has reported sales sales of $168.8 million for the month ended May 27, an increase of 19% compared with the $141.6 million reported for May 2005.

May sales were said to have been driven by a favourable customer response to the company’s summer collection.

Total sales for the year-to-date seventeen-week period ended May 27 increased 16% to $691.2 million, compared with $598.1 million for the corresponding period last year.
