China extends anti-dumping investigation on imported resin

09/06/2006

China's Ministry of Commerce is to extend an anti-dumping investigation into imports of polybutylene terephthalate resin, produced in Japan and Taiwan for three months until September 6.

Sources within the ministry's Fair Trade Bureau stated that that the delay in making a decision was due to the complexity of the case.

Polybutylene terephthalate resin is mainly used in textiles, automobile construction, and instruments and machinery.

Domestic importers have been required to submit cash deposits to mainland customs authorities since March 22. If the preliminary judgment is confirmed by a final investigation, importers will forfeit their deposits to offset the damages caused to domestic producers.
