According to local media, at least 30 people were injured in a disturbance between officials and workers at the Dhaka Export Processing Zone. The clash is reported to have followed an attack on a pregnant sewing operator by an official.

As a result, a number of garment factories remained closed and several people were seriously injured.

Strikes, vandalism and wage retention are said to be the main causes of discontent between workers and officials.
