Golf Galaxy records positive Q1 results

Specialty golf apparel, equipment and accessories company Golf Galaxy has posted its financial results for the first quarter ended May 27 with net sales of $82.5 million, an increase of 40.9% compared with $58.6 million for the same period in 2005. Comparable store sales increased 1% in the first quarter, compared with an increase of 10.5% for the corresponding period last year. Net income for the quarter was $2.6 million compared with $1.7 million the previous year.

Golf Galaxy opened eleven new stores during its fiscal first quarter, including its first stores in the Las Vegas, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Oklahoma City and the New York City metro markets. The company currently operates 61 stores in 24 states.
