The China International Trade Fair for Fibres and Yarns will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from October 25-28 and will run concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics.
China's textile and garment manufacturing industry continues to grow, and in 2005 China's total international trade in this sector exceeded $120 billion. This import and export demand is placing a huge burden on the nation's fibre and yarn producers, and textile manufacturers are increasingly looking to import raw materials.
In the first four months of 2006, China's yarn imports reached $1.5 billion, up 15% compared with the same period in 2005, whilst fibre imports reached $3.3 billion, an increase of 86%.
