The European Commission has cleared the proposed acquisition of Swiss chemical company Ciba’s Textile Effects Business by US chemical company Huntsman International under the EU Merger Regulation.

The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction would not significantly impede effective competition in the European Economic Area or in any substantial part of it.

Ciba’s Textile Effects Business, a subsidiary of Ciba Speciality Chemicals Holding, supplies dyes and chemicals, services and integrated solutions to the textile industry on a world-wide basis. Huntsman International is active in the development, production and distribution of a wide variety of chemical products world-wide.
