According to reports, the Canadian economy advanced by 0.1% in both March and April. In April there was a 1.2% increase in retail, particularly in the automotive sector, although home furnishings and furniture declined.

The manufacturing sector saw the most significant drop, decreasing by 0.3%, including textiles, rubber and plastics.
