Jack Wolfskin adds new sole units to sports footwear range

24/07/2006

German outdoor specialist Jack Wolfskin will introduce two new sole units developed for hiking footwear and outdoor sandals at Outdoor Retailer’s Summer Market.

The Active Trail and the Dos Tierras soles deliver cushioning at a low intrinsic weight. The core component of these soles is the Motion Guide, which is integrated into the sole to provide improved stability. The Motion Guide is a 3D shaped, ‘skeleton’ structured TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) element implanted between the outsole and midsole. This guides the natural biomechanical movement of the foot without significantly adding to the weight and stabilises the strike and roll-off phases.

The Active Trail hiking sole also benefits from a light and flexible rubber compound outsole unit that offers optimised traction and grip, durability and comfort. The anatomically pre-shaped midsole provides cushioning and features an integrated shock absorbing element in the heel section. This is enhanced by a removable footbed, which incorporates an additional shock pad in the heel region. The footbed features an anti-bacterial circuliner plus lining that limits the formation of unpleasant odours.

Three of the company’s models for the summer 2007 collection feature the Active Trail sole while the Dos Tierras sole will be featured in four new models of outdoor sandals designed for both water and land-based activities.
