Leather and textiles help increase Bangladesh export earnings

During fiscal year 2005-06 (July-June), Bangladesh exported goods worth $10.5 billion, approximately $1.8 billion more than in the previous year. According to the Export Promotion Bureau’s preliminary estimates, the US market remained the single largest destination for Bangladeshi goods fetching around $3 billion in 2005-06, while 52% of total earnings came from the EU countries.

Exports items such as leather, garments, textile fabrics, home textiles, and petroleum by-products boosted earnings.
