Geox posts positive first half results

Italian classic and casual footwear and apparel company Geox S.p.A. has posted its financial results for the first half ended June 30.

Footwear sales accounted for 95% of the company’s consolidated sales, totalling 290.3 million, an increase of 31% compared with the first half 2005. Apparel sales accounted for 4%, increasing by 51% to €11.9 million.

41% of the company’s footwear was sold in Italy , compared with 49% in the prior year period, representing a value of €118.4 million. International markets generated sales of €171.9 million, up 53%.

Net income was €47.4 million in the first half, up 8% compared with €43.8 million in the 2005 period.
