New Mercury-free PUR adhesive from Huntsman
Supplier of synthetic and formulated polymer systems Huntsman Advanced Materials has introduced a new family of mercury-free Araldite polyurethane adhesives. The products have been developed as part of the company's continuing effort to provide environmentally-responsible materials.
Araldite mercury-free polyurethanes are rapid-setting, high-strength adhesives for bonding substrates such as polycarbonate, ABS, nylon and Metton liquid moulding resin with minimal surface preparation. Coloured black, the new products are said to be easily blended with a 1:1 mix ratio by volume. The adhesives cure quickly, attaining handling strength after six hours at 77ºF (25ºC). Once cured, the polyurethanes are said to exhibit good flexibility with an elongation of approximately 250% and lap shear strength of up to 2,100 psi on primed aluminium panels at room temperature.
Huntsman Advanced Materials is a subsidiary of US-based manufacturer of differentiated and commodity chemicals, Huntsman Corporation.
