Polyester- and polyether-based elastane fibres for yarn spinning manufacturer RadiciSpandex Corp., a subsidiary of Italy-based The Radici Group has announced the eighth ‘Stretch to the Future’ design competition. The competition will be initiated in September with the Fashion School, Kent State University, Ohio.

The competition was introduced in 1999 to encourage young designers to expand their creativity using high tech fibres made with spandex yarn. It will be judged by experts from the fashion, fabric and media sectors in New York, April 2007.

Director and Professor of the Fashion School Elizabeth Rhodes said, “The University’s mission is to link the academic and workplace environments for the professional advancement of individuals who impact the fashion industry.” Students at the school will be given the opportunity to enter the competition.
