Apparel, footwear and swimwear retailer American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. has reported a 12% increase in total sales for the month ended July 29. Sales reached $197.4 million, compared with the $175.8 million reported for the month ended July 30, 2005. Comparable store sales increased 7%.

Total sales for the second quarter, also ended July 29, increased 17% to $602.3 million, compared with $515.9 million for the corresponding period in 2005.

Total sales for the year-to-date period increased 16% to $1.125 billion, compared with $972.3 million for the prior year period.
