The UK's Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) recently sponsored the Texprint Colour Prize 2006 as part of its aim to foster young design talent.

A non-profit making organisation with charitable status, Texprint supports the next generation of textile designers by providing an annual showcase of British-trained talent. From the 24 finalists short-listed, the industry experts judging Texprint 2006 selected five Texprint prize winners across the textile design categories: breaking new ground, colour, knit, print and weave.

The Society’s Colour Prize was judged by president and CEO of Italy-based textile manufacturer Ratti SpA Donnatella Ratti, and was awarded to Ella Robinson, a recent graduate of Loughborough University School of Art & Design.

After exhibiting with the full Texprint group of 24 designers at Indigo in Paris in September, each category winner will show at Interstoff Asia in Hong Kong this October.
