China's textile and apparel trade up by 21.9% in first half 2006

From January to July, China's total textile and apparel trade was up 21.94% compared with the 2005 period, constituting 9.13% of total trade value.

For the same period, textile and apparel exports increased by 24.49% over the corresponding period in 2005, constituting 15% of total export value. Textile and apparel imports rose 5.88%, constituting 2.4% of total import value.

Statistics released by the Chinese Customs department showed that the
USA was the top export region, followed by Japan and Hong Kong

The top three countries for imports to
China were Taiwan, Japan and Korea.
