The Bangladesh government has fixed a revised export earnings target of $12.5 billion for the current fiscal year (July 2006-June 2007), which is 18.75% or $1.98 billion higher than the previous year’s figure.
According to the Ministry of Commerce, export targets for the current fiscal year have been increased for products including woven items, knitwear, footwear, raw jute, jute goods, leather, chemical products, home textiles and textile fabrics. The new target for footwear has been fixed at $113 million and at $290 million for leather.
