US designer, manufacturer and distributor of branded and private label apparel Delta Apparel Inc. plans to open Ceiba Textiles, an offshore textile manufacturing plant in Honduras. The 300,000 square foot facility will be located in the Green Valley Industrial Park in San Pedro Sula, where knitting, dyeing, finishing, cutting and sewing processes will be carried out, primarily for the activewear segment.

The company expects the facility to be completed during fiscal 2007 and production will begin during the first quarter of fiscal 2008. Production of 500,000 pounds per week is expected in the first year, increasing to one million pounds per week in fiscal 2009.

The company expects the total capital investment in Ceiba Textiles to be approximately $25 million, which includes the cost of constructing the building.
