Nike appoints first VP of Diversity

Nike, Inc. has appointed Donna DeBerry as its first vice president (VP) of Diversity. In this newly created role, Ms DeBerry will help to further integrate diversity into Nike's global business strategies and employer of choice practices. CEO Mark Parker commented, "Diversity is a competitive and comparative growth opportunity for us. Innovation is a core driver of Nike's growth. The best innovation comes from inclusive work environments that foster diverse ideas, nurture people with diverse talent and backgrounds, and create strong relationships with diverse communities. We look forward to Donna working with our teams globally to further integrate diversity into how we work and how we drive growth."

Ms DeBerry was most recently, CEO and founder of DRP International, a diversity and event management consultancy. She has worked with the Oprah Winfrey Show and on many other high-profile projects. Prior to founding DRP International, she was executive VP of Global Diversity and Corporate Affairs at Wyndham International Inc., one of the world's largest publicly traded hospitality companies. She has also worked with the National Football League and the US Olympic Committee.
